hi guys

I called a couple of exhaust shops today and not one would help me out on a muffler delete pipe. all cited illegal and one even said it affects the filters and sensors(?) in the exhaust and destroys the back pressure. ive read the bigger discussions on here about back pressure etc especially from diesel tuner when he was northside, does that mean these goons r talking crap? where and how nathand did u get ur delete pipe from mate? has affected anything on ur truck? I cant afford a full system anytime soon and the removal of the muffler makes the easiest mod for me to do.

cheers

have a look on ebay there is some on there for around $100

these are no real improvement with standard dump pipe

Thats not what Lindsay/DieselTuner from - A1 Caboolture Exhaust & Mechanical says. when he was posting under Northside he said there is no real gain in the dump pipe from the Dyno tests they did, im sure he said that most of the restriction is in the CAT and the Muffler.

here is one of his posts from another thread,

"Even 2.75" is pointless.

Turbo back, also pointless. Aftermarket cat, pointless.

You will get all the benefit out of a 2.5" cat back system unless your really pushing alot more boost and power than standard, only then will you need something better."

its going to make zero difference to your performance , unless your original system is clapped out . and you wont gain any note so to speak

Steve, how do you know that??

I put the delete pipe on mine and while it didnt add 1000hp you can tell that there is a slight improvement, and it has most definitely changed how it sounds , as soon as i started it my neighbour was having a smoke and he could tell something had changed.

Thats all BS dude, since i put mine on i have had no probs what so ever,

I goy mine from the guys off ebay and as i was close to them on one of the days i wasnt working due to the rain i stopped by and grabbed one, BUT they didnt have one for the 2012 at the time so they used my D40 for the prototype and fitted it up for me for free and only charged me $90 took less then 45min.

I will get you a LINK, be back in 5

firstly i have no issues with whoever but it seems like he contridicts himself in saying theres no need for aftermarket cat yet he says the restriction is there. then goes on to say buy a 2.5 system with cat.

and i would also like to know whats classified as alot more boost/power as mine is running at 29psi and over at full boost which may be a bit much but others are also getting into the 20psi range which i personally would say alot.

i also personally would like to see these dyno sheets out of interest. as theres not alot out there and it would help clear up what figures you can make doing what mod.

Its not illegal and all the back pressure you need is in the cat.
Removing the cat is illegal and some say reduces back pressure which is not good

I think he said to buy the system from the cat back to keep it modular so sections can be replaced easier if damaged, i also think he clarified which size exhaust to get by saying that if you intend to leave the engine stock a 2.5"system will do the job fine, but if you intend on doing more then it doesnt hurt to run a 2.75 or 3" system

He did put up allot of dyno charts a while back, if you look up all the "Northside" stuff they should be still there somewhere.
