D40 Big end bearings / conrod bolts

Hello all,
I have brought a 2008 D40 with the YD25DDTi engine, before I got it I was worried about the big end problems that they all seem to have. After I did a bit of homework it seems like the problem only happened on the D22s, is this true? My one has done 50000miles and if I need to do the bearings and bolts is there any recomendations out there on brand of the uprated sort? Many thanks

I'd heard there was an issue with some of the bearings in some of the Euro models because they had to change the alloy that the bearings was made of to comply with some regulation over there. Not sure if that also impacted on the UK market.

Where is the vehicle in question?

I am in the UK, vehicle was built in Spain

the big end problem was with the pre common rail yd25 in the D22.
D40's never had that problem.

Hi Autobuzz,

The bottom end problem mostly only affected the D22. There is a twinking of an issue over timing chains stretching on the D40.
