Hpd do an aftermarket kit for about $1200 I think. I had mine done by ARE Cooling at Brendale for $800 using factory tanks. They modified the internals of tanks to give smoother airflow and a larger more free flowing core.

Easy going family business and very helpful

Love to see some in and out temps/egts/ flow numbers for stock coolers vs cooler mods vs replacements.i guess were all in the same boat as we increase power levels our standard parts become restritions... but at what point is it $$worthwhile modding / replacing

I reckon it was well spent. I had 30deg egt drop at the dump pipe and was also able to wind the boost up a couple psi with getting any hotter temps. Also fitted a spal thermo fan underneath for those low speed drives

Also I'm still trying to source a bonnet scoop I can modify and make taller to catch more airflow into the cooler core. Everyone wants an arm and a leg for them. Idc if its not the right colour as I'll be sanding it right back and 're fibreglassing it etc

Haha Put a big WRX scoop on it mate..... I think if your planning to keep the Nav long term the money is well spent and the added reliability is worth its weight in gold. I looked at selling to get a 4.2td patrol but like the Nav to much and have spent to much to let it go, most diesel mechanics I have spoken to advised to keep the Nav as well so the list of mods just keeps growing

Apparently as informed by the mowfsa it'll be kept till it's dead. Also I would keep it anyway cause when the d22 gets discontinued the resale is gonna go up.

Rusty a member on the caravan forum fitted a much larger top mount to his 4.2 pootrol. He got a much larger scoop made to his specs from a plastic fabricator at Slacks Creek. It looked tough if I can find the link tonight I will post it here.
I think it cost him around $140.

You will be pleased to keep the Nav you have put a heap of work into it. Besides no room in the back of a pootrol for your dirt bike.

I'm about to go down this road again soon running no chip at the moment but will be getting a hpd intercooler for $1200 and a unichip fitted by linsey off this forum. That should work well with my 3 inch exhaust . Really just hopeing it irons out the flat spots was going to go to all star but I really want to make the right choice in what chip I get this time so unichip just ticked all the right boxs for me ,Half way through saving now can't wait

The Nav goes great with it's current tune but going to 33's when the km2's wear out so any extra power will help so re tuning the chip might be the way to go, if you could throw up the number that would be great. As for All Star Tuning, I must have got them on there worst ever day of trading as I reckon a lot of other people would have just left. Is there many aftermarket intercooler options out there for the yd25...?

Here mate.
The numbers are Jamie at Goondiwindi 0746712153
Andrew at Toowoomba 0746989350

They we're recommend to me by Dan Ingleton from Dalby.
I have been thinking of the 4.2l patrol option also. Heaps stronger truck but stock power is something in the way of 86kw. The GQ Swb I had ran a dynamic turbo. 3" exhaust with pump and timing mods, injector work and running 12 psi boost and it made around120kw. If I had of Intercooled it it should have made around 155kw. The only problem then was it got to expensive to run as a daily driver. I'm thinking of going down the road of a Gu diff SAS conversion. Just need to find out how well the coil overs in the front will handle outback trips and rough roads, and how hard it is to get it all approved. Just need a lotto win to fund it all.
Let us know how you go with Diesel Care.
Cheers, Brad

Thanks for the numbers mate and I think everyone on here is waiting to win lotto for the SAS.
I don't do a lot of crazy offroad stuff but a fair bit of beach driving, I love the convenience of having the ute so when the bigger rubber goes on and I can afford a front locker the Nav will be perfect for what I do.
Have put it through its paces at Glasshouse and gave it hell and it didn't skip a beat.

No worries mate. The locker will make a difference and take a bit of the need to attack off-road challenges with speed, so the drive train will be under less stress.
I have asked Paul from yd25.com if he has ever thought of doing a kit for the transfer chain. We need someone like YD25 or forefront industries to come up with a stronger chain or gear setup for the transfer. That is really the only weak link that their is no real fix for.
Let us know what the guys say from diesel care and if they can help you out.

Ill let you guys know how the coilover go on the front when I finish my conversion

Happy John
Let me know about that mob as ill want to get a price off them soon. Thanks

Once you pop that locker in up front the nav will be transformed. I went glass house a while back with a mate in his gu patrol with 4" lift. Did everything he tackled with less need for the right foot. He was running dual lockersaswell. Love the nav now

Be pleased with what you got out of it mate, I had a play with a 78 series cruiser from 3 sets of lights today. All it did was roar and not accelerate fast I guess it was his weight but he was very surprised and pulled up and asked me what I hade done to it after losing 3 standing take offs he was shitty.
