So.....recovery hooks. Has anybody fitted any?
At the front of the chassis rails and aft of the Bullbar mounting points are a pair of holes through the underside of the chassis and about 100mm apart with what looks like M10 captive nuts on both rails. Has anybody utilised them at all? Looking at mounting hooks to these and also using these holes as a place to mount a bash guard to protect the sump.
Missus has it at the moment but if I get a chance when she gets home I'll take a pic of them and the location to greater explain.

Im still looking for hooks that are 72mm between centres so I can use the existing holes/nuts.

No I haven't contacted Nissan, but I've heard that some of the earlier Patrol's had them fitted as standard and they will fit. I drop in to wreckers from time to time to check if there are any available but the answer is usually no.

i'm told D21's came out with 72mm centered hooks and one of the patrols ones also.
however 'standard' hooks are easy to get but need to work out better mounting.
see hook thread for pics.

Standard 2010 Navara D22 Tow Hooks (more well known as D's)

Hi All,

I am new to the forum, I currently have a brand new Stock 2010 D22.

I am currently going through the list of accessories I am planning to fit to my pride and Joy and recovery points were one of the first essential Items.

I am not sure about the earlier models but in the Manufacturers book it states, and I quote "Use the towing hooks (D's) only to free a vehicle stuck in sand, snow, mud etc."

This is the Manufacturers statement that they are suitable to use to recover a vehicle. it does state to only tow in a straight line and not at an angle.

Nissan would be opening a can of littigation if the vehicle wheighing no more than the GVM was recovered at a straight angle and the tow points broke or ripped off.

Note that a 4.2t bow shackle wont fit in them but a 3.75 will.

Just food for thought??

Cheers

Hey fellas,
I know old thread but will be doing this soon. Given my limited skills/tools I am leaning towards Matts setup (nice truck by the way mate). I can see tweake's argument for shiz but don't think I could confidently drill/fit the hook and know it's not gonna damage chassis etc. But yeah if the hooks were easier to fit I'd lean that way.
Anyone got any other thoughts/ideas/insults to add?
Cheers
