D22 dash swap when engine changed?

Is it legal in Australia to change the dash from the donor car when you change the engine ?

Why you changing the dash?
No I don't believe so, same make and model? It's when you start changing chassis and Id tags that can get you in trouble.

Was just asking out of curiosity. The ute I'm buying has a motor in it out of a different ute. Would be easier to know how many kms the motor in it now has done if dash cluster was swapped at same time, however I wasn't sure whether it was illegal

Aslong as it fits and every thing works.
Some may argue thats its not a true representation of how many kms the vehicle has done, and you changed it to lower the odometer and so on....
but if your changing the engine then its up to you if you wanna know how many kms the engine has done or the vehicle.
No law against it.
