aha, i just turned 19 and i show a shit load of more respect and give proper/meaningful answers without bagging out people.

hes supposedly 54 ay?

bloody senior citizens all old and grumpy haha

yeah, supposedly according to a post in another thread, but yeah always bagging people and their cars out. it is a forum after all, if everyone knew everything then noone would have a reason to come here. people come to ask questions about things they are not sure about, as far as i was aware a forum was about people helping other people out, not bagging them out...

some people really have no idea do they, lol

he also has no introductory post??? MUST BE A TROLL!!!! lol

i also saw his post saying we shouldnt bother reading on here and asking on here for help that probably wont solve our problems, instead to go see a mechanic...

its called DIY and LEARNING! i have learnt all my own things and DIY'ed nearly all my mods/upgrades and rebuilds. i've saved over $2K easily doing stuff myself, and i know i'm doing it right as i have the RIGHT advice and have people on here who actually come over to help out with things.

like i said, hes a grumpy old fart...

yep, seems that way, lol

most things are just common sense, if it doesn't seem right it probably isn't. the main thing to remember is just because someone has done something a certain way, doesn't necessarily mean it's right. how many threads are on here about dodgy mechanics or fitters? not to mention accessory "builders" that a lot of people have had bad experiences with. at least coming on a forum you see other people who have had issues so you can make the decision yourself. same goes with problems with vehicles, you might be having a problem so you come on here and see if anyone else has had the same problem and what they did to fix it.

and give the people who are asking the "dumb" questions and people who are helping them out a bit of respect. as the saying goes, the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked

lol, cant wait to see him go off at me tomorrow haha

i await your replies mr diesel specialist, and KEEP THE REPLIES TO THE THINGS I SAID ABOUT AERODYNAMICS! dont go off at me saying i'm some young smartass kid, because thats what happens on the other forums with people 'similar' to yourself.

oh yeah, and dont bring up the fact i have a landcruiser and that i'm on the navara forum and that i probably have no idea about navaras... i had one for 2 years and spent lots of time under it exploring and seeing how it all works and how i can make it function better offroad. i know my navaras quite well...

Ah in that case I've worked it out, there was a letter in the Melbourne paper the other day from a "senior mechanic" who says he is down right shocked at how people get sparkys and builders etc to do the job they can't but risk their lives on fixing cars themselves instead of trusting the job to a qualified person like themselves, even went as afar as saying Google is not a replacement for education (or words to that effect). The Herald sun gave him the moniker of "Letter of the day" and a free pen, now the same twonk has worked out there is more to the web than just Google and he was hoping for a free pen for "post of the day".

that is what i call a stone chip strip. some are hard plastic but most are stick on clear film.

the bug protectors i know of stick up anything from 10mm to 30mm from the bonnet.

pic hot linked so hope you can see it. notice the top edge sticks up a little bit but nothing in front of the bonnet scoop.

I have a bonnet protector and bull bar on my Nav. Sounds as though I might as well remove the intercooler and put it on ebay if it doesnt work any more.

:suicide:

try do what the original poster did?

get some bluetac and pieces of wool string, and stick them around on the bonnet, especially in front of the bonnet scoop.

take it for a drive and get some pics at say 80km/h or so, so we can still the effect it has, or not

i don't think the string shows it up very well.
easy way to test is intercooler temp. measure with and without bonnet protector.

There are some decent mechanics out there, trouble is most people get burn't once and dont trust any of them.

To 4 inches, if you cant see the need for a intercooler you need to hand your tools to someone who understands.

You have been warned.

I agree there is decent mechanics out there just like there is decent builders (although I'm yet to met one of those) but to me the sort of person who cries poor to the media, the public or just the internet about back yard mechanics or DIY'ers is not one of them.

It's goes for every industry though not just trades, even in the computer industry I understand that some people know enough to build and support their own gear but I don't go crying to whoever will listen just because more and more people are learning to do it themselves. It does have something to do with me not relying on most home users for business but I also think it's poor form to cry about DIY'ers.

Still looks like our expert mechanic with his hundred years of experience and knowledge surpassed by no man has decided it's not worth talking to a bunch of morons and web wheelers with no real world experience and he's gone off to join 4wd action where his knowledge will be appreciated.
