Yes I think that is a least one of the prevailing theories. I'd be interested to know if the original ( series one ?) d40's have the same condition. Perhaps it is only series 2 and 3, or even just series 3.

Makes sense esp as I dont really see the sort of whinging ( like mine) you might expect if it were widespread.

Clutches shitting themselves all over the world, the hoards are pounding on elbunkero.

Class actions are popping up like mushrooms

Redesigned clutch and motor in the pipeline ( becomes series 4), need a quick fix to stem the tide .

Head accountant minces into engineering dept. Kill that f****n engine.

Becomes series 3.

Marketing sells the new found reliability of the totally redesigned drivetrain.

and a correction- earlier in this thread I was discussing the mushy throttle pedal being speed related. Had a play around today and in fact mushy pedal is all to do with 1st gear. Ground speed has no impact. Could'nt get mushy pedal in 2nd no matter how slow it was traveling and how low the revs got.
No doubt in my mind at least that mushy pedal is programmed that way.
No doubt about it 1st gear is a F***ing joke in the manual d40 but when you spend that much on a new ute u just have to get used to it because u know you have already lost 8g driving it off the showroom floor.
