My 3 year old D40 KingCab has now done 135, 000klm's and I'm starting to get paranoid about the cam chain, or a least getting it replaced.

Admittadly, I know several people with D40's with well over 150,000klms on the clock that haven't had cam chain's replaced. But hey, they might be just lucky?

So what I'm interested in hearing about is, who's had a cam chain replaced on their D40/YD25 and how much did it cost?

I would suggest that you don't replace it with a genuine chain (which will still be single-row like the one you have now). Visit yd25.com.au, or call them and talk to Paul about a double-row chain (with new sprockets too).

+1 on that. The only way to go. The D40 is easier to fit than the D22 so if you are half handy you can do it yourself. Mine cost me all up $3000 fitted. The kit was about $1800 from memory but the kit has been updated so I don't know if it cost more now. The YD25.com kit is the best on the market and Paul will go to great lengths to help you out.

Cheers

Just done chains in my D40. Got parts from paul at yd25, he's customer service is excellent, I called him a couple of times and was very helpfull. He supplies a full step by step instructions wich are easy to follow. I would highly recommend him

How many klms had your D40 done before you thought it needed a new chain ?
