have a great weekend mate
joels 12th on sat so we are off to Sydney waterworld ($70 a ticket, crazy)

Hey guys finally made it back last night about midnight-ish, long story to fill you all in on but was a great trip over all. i have plenty of pic`s and the damage report was not as bad as originally thought, plus i put my new rack and basket to the test not to mention worked the winch pretty hard (thats part of the long story) great area and some very nice locals, will be returning towards the end of sumer, hopefully after a little more rain and when its not close to the 40deg mark all week. Update to come soon.
How was the water park Sparra?? Didint see you around Tony did you end up getting a trip in at all??

Water park was canned too expensive
Went for a swim at stocton instead
sounds like you had a ball

No trip for us, unfortunately. Costs are starting to weigh on us - the reno has turned up some more expensive things that need fixing which is a little disappointing because we'd rather be travelling!

We are determined to get away though, so while events caught us unawares for this trip, we're hoping to make Meryla. Still no guarantees there, but we'll do the best we can.

Glad you had fun though, can't wait to see the pics! Why did you need to use the winch?

OK so a quick run down of my trip to Bridal Track, was an awesome week over all left last Thursday and arrived at Bathurst after lunch, grabbed a quick feed and some ice and headed off to bridal Track via Freemantle Rd, its probably around 20-30k`s to the first camp site called Bruinbun (where i ended up setting up camp) it has a fairly well designed long drop toilet (there are a few located around other camps also) and a nice body of water. before setting up camp we did visit the other sites along the Macquarie River but decided that Bruinbun was the best for us.

There is a land slide blocking the road about half way down Bridal track so you can't access all the camp sites if you come from Bathurst, but if you travel from Bathurst to Sofala then over to Hill End you can access Bridal Track from there, to be honest i wish i had went that way first as there are more camp areas and bigger bodies of water for swimming and fishing.
Between Sofala and Hill End you will come across a single lane white bridge, I'm told there is a picnic area on the Sofala side of that bridge with an awesome swimming hole.

On Saturday we went to town for supplies and headed up to the Root Hog fire trail which is gated off and signed as private property (i didn't believe this so i entered anyways) was some great views from the mountain tops there and came out to cross the Macquarie at the other side of Bridal Track. Had a great swim around there as there is loads more water on that side.
DO NOT try and find a short cut where the council has blocked the road at the land slide (there is a track to your left o n the Hill End Side), you will end up on private property like i did and have to explain to the locals how you managed to get lost on their property. They were ok with it otherwise.

Keep in mind of travelling there is a lot of animals around the roads, sheep, Kanga-bangas, fox`s, rabbits, cows, goats and deer as well so keep an eye out.

On Sunday (which was meant to be our last day) i headed back to Hill End for some fishing with the young fella even managed a bit of 4x4ing but got a little cocky and went up a hill that clearly was too much for the old girl and ended up bending and braking both my Tie Rod Adjusters, for risk of embarrassment i won't explain how i did that.
So i ended up leaving the ute there for 3 days and with the help of some locals stayed at Bathurst motel for the night and caught a train home to Sydney the next day and picked up some new heavy duty adjusters from Snake Racing.
Headed back to Bathurst on Tuesday and fitted and retrieved the ute off the side of my mountain (was a huge relief). Cant thank the local guys enough as they could help me more then they did, shows the difference in mentality between city and country.
Made it home Midnight Tuesday night in time for work Wednesday.
Will be headed back there soon i think as i know the area better now and other then the heat was a great place to visit. Pics to follow.

My brain fart on Sunday ended me up here on this hill, should have walked up the hill first. BIG learning experience for me.
Feel free to note the angle of my front wheels.

Fish were jumping all day but not biting at all, maybe if i were fly fishing instead or using worms i think they were full as there were a lot of bugs around, most the week i was there it was 35-40deg.
Worked out well as i was looking at an excuse to upgrade them anyways as i hear of a lot of people bending and breaking them, i`m a little concerned though (ill have to have another look when i get a chance) as to why they bent in the first place.

Thanks for the pics mate, looks like quite the adventure.

Raff snapped one tie rod on one of the tracks at Yalwal, we ended up welding a bolt with jumper leads and three battery's linked together onto the side of the broken Tie rod, worked like a treat and he drove back to sydney from the track with the bush fix still on it.

Those new ones look the goods, you should be sweet now.

Welding a bolt with jumper leads? hahaha who drew a short straw for that job?? Bloody bush mechanics, we talked about doing that (with a real welder that is) but i wasn't convinced as i was still hitched to a tree at the time, will have to return one day for my heavy duty snatch block that i left behind.

yeah it actually worked really well, just had to use light rods and link the battery's together and away you go.
