Black OILY Residue around rear of crancase?

howdy
2002 ZD30.
all that oily black residue around the rear of the top of the engine is normal?
or should i be takin the cover off and cleaning?

yeh thanks dave...i just ordereed a provent yeasterday...changed the oil...did the egr mod-very grateful to the site...
