Good luck with it all - the company I work for has put on a number of adult apprentices (and juniors as well). Yes the wages are bad at first but there are long term benefits.

I did an electrical apprenticeship in the late 70's and the trade was great with decent money along the way. Try to do commercial and domestic and get into PLC and building automation side of things.

Get out and sell yourself.

Cheers guys.

I have applied for about 5 jobs already.

Here's hoping.

Missed out on 2 jobs by 2 days. Sigh, oh well.

I'm actually trying to get a diesel mechanic apprenticeship ATM. Been applying at a few places just waiting to hear back

I have nearly finished my first year of electrical apprenticeship (mature age). It took me a few years to finally get an offer, but has been great. Basic algebra transposition is all you need, the difficulty is knowing what the symbols in each equation mean and there units. If you have a genuine interest in the subject you will be fine. I actually love going to tafe blocks.

Yes, the pay sucks! But I was lucky enough to get put on with second year award wage. You also get ~$550 a month from gov, though it is slow to come in which pisses me off a bit as some dole bludger gets their amount the next day, but I have wait 2 weeks from date of submitting form. But wouldn't be able to do it without it.

Thinking of keeping some of the work I am doing now.

Some of these sites I can do $120 a hour, however there is no future in.

Just dont wanna wake up when I am 40 and be like !@#$, now what do I do since I am out of work.

yeah I would but got a bub due next month so I gotta hold off for a little while

lucky you haha I've only got a mortgage and now I ****ing loan I got for my so called little brother who has screwed me over but anyway one day I might get there

Dave, what sort of electrical do you wanna do? Domestic? Commercial? Industrial?

This was actually a question in my interview (im a 3rd yr, go 4th in jan, dual trade electrical/instrumentation). They were weeding people out by asking "do yoou know the difference between them all and is this (industrial) what you are chasing.
