Hi all,
Picking up our 2003 D22 3.0 Diesel Monday or Tuesday next week, moving up from a D21....

Only thing is there is one key fob, so is it easy to get another coded to the car or is it a dealer only option for a second key/ immobiliser ???

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum!

I know my D40 key would cost me hundreds to get replaced and I don't know if places like Mr Minit can code them up.

I guess you'd have to ask them if they could do it. You should expect two keys with the car, unless one was lost/destroyed.

My 05 only came with 1 key, no fobs no immobilizer, I put in an aftermarket immobilizer that came with two fobs and got a second key cut at a locksmith for about $8

Key blanks can be brought from ebay for about $5 and can be cut by any key cutter. Not sure what immobilisers the 03 D22 came with but if it's anything like the NATS system the electronic bits need to be done by Nissan. There was a discussion on the D40 on last friday, can't remember the post title but I know it was Friday.

I love your selective memory Krafty. No details just dates.

I'm all for letting people help themselves. It's good to lead someone to a solution but if you constantly give them the solution they never learn for themselves.

BTW I notice you didn't elaborate either and given that the thread I was talking about was pretty much just you and me bantering with each other (because the other snobs went for a drive to see if they could break someone elses ute in the bush), I say your memory was as good as mine :ha:

It truely is an act of kindship on your part. I hope others realise the service you're providing to let other help themselves and learn to you the "Search Bar" (You're favorite peice of advice to New Members)

I only hope I had a search bar at work for all the pesky customer asking why their diesel is noisy and if that tick tick is their bottom end.

And yes I preferred not to disclose the exact statements made in that conversation we had. Once again letting people "Help themselves" :ha:

I don't like the chances of everyone learning the lesson, just look how many threads there are on the right choice of tyres and exhausts, many just don't listen, but hey atleast it gives me something to put in the intro post

Your act of kindship has not gone unnoticed either

You are a Gentleman and a Scholar and I bid you a good day. I have bludged far too
Much at the desk today.

I will also be sure to stop quoting everything and clogging up the thread with Our pointless banter

Thanks for the replies.....

picked it up last night and really impressed with the diesel, and the key is just a blade, the immobiliser is an added on aftermarket type, so will have to track down the type and get another fob coded, plus another key cut.

I'll get some pics up and see if you guys recognise it. Started life NOR near Joondalup and went down to Busselton, serviced at All 4x4 Services..

I would be careful of posting too much personal information on your immobiliser, just never know who's reading. There is bound to be a name or something on the control unit at least but it might be hard to find.

If the key is just a blade I'd reckon you could get it cut just about anywhere, just may not look the same.

Might even be cheaper in the long run, who knows. Also if you do get a new one you'll never have to wonder where that second switch unit ended up.

hi again,

Thanks for the advice, all sorted now, and loving the d22. Spent ages reading through a lot of post and went ahead with the EGR mod. Just need to get some pics loaded up. The previous owner spent some cash on it as it has a FMIC and Snake lift kit too.
