Have an oil leak at the moment, its the rear main seal. My Mechanic who gave me a look at the one he is fixing on a patrol at the moment says its gona be a $1000 job to fix!! He basically told me to keep an eye on the oil level and not worry about it for a while yet. Just wondering if anyone here has replaced a rear main seal yet? 2005 D22 3ltr zd30. Thanks.

That's mostly labour, you have to remove the torsion bars, drop the box, replace the seal, and reassemble.

The seal itself is cheap.

What Dion said, I think mine is weaping but until the clutch is rooted it can wait.

Dave.

Thanks for the replys, I reckon I will wait as long as possible and whenever I do get it done I might upgrade the torsion bars too.

im not a mechanic guru but would it be wise to add the thickest oil possible 15w40 (within warranty limits)?? so it would be harder to leak out??
