I have never had any problems with heavy rain or from washing it but saying that i have not blocked my drain hole yet which may make a bit of difference.
iv got mine completely sealed up and havent had any dramas in either heavy rain, washing or water over the bonnet in bog holes and river crossings. just dont go shoving a hose down the snorkle
