Hi guys having alot of problems with my D40 Auto being stuck in 4low for some time now. I also apologise to old tony for me posting again about this issue, whos helped me alot trying to diagnose this issue

Ive already made a thread but thought if put alot more info on this thread instead.

i put it in 4low last week by accident and drove on the highway, immediately pulled over and got it towed home. Couldn’t put it back into 4high.

heres what ive tried
- ecu dance
- neutral, drive reverse and switching the selector
- reversing 20m, forward 20m and changing gears/selecter
- jacking up points of the car, going over kurbs
- manually trying to disengage the 4low on transfer box, only turns from 12-10 o’clock on the gear, makes a slight click but doesnt disengauge 4low at all
- swappping relays around doesnt do anything, ive ordered new relays, see if that fixes it
- i also had somebody turn the switch while car was running and the transfer case motor didnt make any sound at all

worried really need to drive this car soon, been 1 week of this issue. If nobody can help ill send it to the specialists

ive attatched a photo of the gear i tried to turn and the location of it, as well as the blue relays i switched around.

Could indeed be something mechanical within the trf case....but...

Have you checked the wheel speed sensors at each corner?
Quite often 4x4 engage/disengage probs lead back to these little buggers.
My old mans' Nav refused to engage 4x4 a while back.
Front passenger sensor wire was damaged about half way between the back of the hub & the loom plug under the guard. Replaced sensor wire (as a complete part #) and g.a.g.

The system needs 4 working wheel speed signals to do any 4x4 operations.

Apologies if you've already ruled this out.

Oh and don't stress too much about a short trip on the tarmac in 4x4.
They will tolerate a little... just not repeatedly or for long trips.
