Hi All, I'm keen to do Catch can, Bigger cooler kit, intake pipe, & ECG mods but em scarred it will void the rest of my warranty. Also can't believe how many issues one model can have - blown away, glad I found this forum but my wife's not šŸ˜”

Warranty will only ever be voided if they can prove the mod caused the problem. If the engine blows and you've got bigger tyres on it they will have a hard time proving the tyres caused it. If the engine blows and the can blame it on a bigger cooler then yes they could void the warranty but it's not a cut a dried case they wont just can you because you made some mods.

As for the problems that a model can have just stop reading shit on the net, there is thousands of D40 nav owners on the road here and millions worldwide and a few pissy internet stories. Sure there has been some faults but they aren't suffered by everyone and it's no worse than any other make or model.

+1 on Krafty's advice. The internet is a great place for having a whinge but you hardly ever see people getting angry enough to post about how good their car is.

The catch can can't harm the engine at all because it's only catching gases vented from the top of the engine and not interacting with the motor in any mechanical way. A larger intercooler can't do too much damage either - all it can do is cool the incoming air stream more effectively. This might change the algorithm in the ECU for the most efficient burn because the air in the chamber would be slightly denser but I can hardly think that's going to cause too much damage to the motor!

By "ECG mod" I think you mean EGR - now that's not going to void the warranty and I doubt Nissan will say much about it - it's an emission control thing, nothing more, and unless the engine dies from melted pistons they'd be hard-pressed to reject a claim. Note that EGR cools the combustion temperatures in the throttle mid-range ONLY, never at idle or full throttle, and full throttle is where you develop the dangerous heat - and the EGR valve is closed then anyway, so blocking it won't make a difference to the top end heat production.

It's true I'd be angry if I had to get on the net and post great comments about a D22 just to convince myself I brought the right car.

Nothing wrong with a D22, I am still on the original timing chain and clutch.

Alot of D40 drivers cant say the same. Haha.

But alot of them can so therefore by your own evaluation there is nothing wrong with a D40 either. Phew I'm glad all that D40/D22 bashing is over and Dave was able to sum it all up so easily.
