16"x7" Wheels with 245/75R16 Kumho KL71's combo?

Hi,

I was wondering whether I would experience any rubbing issues if I went with 16"x7" wheels (0mm offset, 4" back spacing, 6x5.5" bolt pattern) combined with 245/75R16 Kumho KL71 Road Venture MT tyres on my 3.2L non-turbo D22 4x4 Frontier as per my avatar pic? It currently has the 16"x6" wheels installed from the factory. I do not have any sort of suspension modifications (i.e. no lift kit). See below link for the specific wheel I'm looking at:

I would much rather go with 16"x8" wheels combined with 265/75R16 MT tyres but I have read too many posts here with people having issues with the tyres rubbing.........even with lift kits installed apparently. My vehicle is still under factory warranty for another 2 years and would prefer not having to explain anything to my Nissan dealership here in Trinidad.

Okay, would I be able to fit a 16"x8" wheel (-22mm offset, 3-5/8" back spacing) with 265/70R16 AT tyre on my D22 without any rubbing (no lift kit installed)?

yeah 265/70/16 with 16x7' will fit no worries at all as that is what is fitted factory to d22's here in aus! also alot of people get away with 265/75/16 as well with no lift by trimming the front guards.

Hey, thanks for the response 04SilverSTR. Lots of good info on the forum.

Just to recap, my D22 came with narrow 16"x6" wheels and 205R16C-8PR tyres from the factory. I've reconsidered going with the 245/75R16 Kumho KL71 MT's as it would make more sense for me to go with either BFG or Toyo All-Terrain tyres instead as I spend 90% of the time on-road

So I was now wondering if I can get away with a 16"x8" wheel (0mm offset, 4-7/16" back spacing) and a 265/70R16 All-Terrain tyre without rubbing any guards in my front wheel wells with no lift kit/suspension mods?

P.S. I also have the option of a 16"x8" wheel with a -22mm offset and 3-5/8" back spacing which would give a better "deep-dish" look but I doubt that much negative offset would help with rubbing issues. What is the offset on the stock 16"x7" wheel that has the 265/70R16 tyre from the factory?

265/70 will fit even with that offset, 265/75 will rub.
I think -22 is a little bit to much, sticks out too far, stock offset is +44. I got 245/75 on stock wheels... I think they look alright, not skinny.. for on road use they're great.
Soon i'll be getting some bigger r15 tyres, I want to know how it goes with the extra clearance but fuel economy will go down.

My gut tells me that the 16"x8" wheel (0mm offset, 4-7/16" back spacing) and a 265/70R16 All-Terrain tyre will fit well with no rubbing.

And even though I'll go with the bigger sized combo of 16"x8" Mickey Thompson Classic II wheel (21 lbs) and P265/70R16 Toyo Open Country A/T II tyre (40 lbs)..........it'll still weigh less than my first thought of using a 16"x7" Mickey Thompson Classic III wheel (22 lbs) and LT245/75R16 Kumho KL71 tyre (50 lbs).

Note: I won't be pulling any heavy loads or towing so I don't need a LT tyre.

You're right, those tyres in your pic don't look too skinny at all. What size are the rims in the pic? They look like the stock 16"x6" 8-spoke steel wheels I currently have, except painted black.

They are stock 16x7, but 245s will fit as good in 6" wide rims.... the black paint is mud check out my garage for more pics

I've just figured out how to upload pics to my garage. Please take a look at my stock wheels, they seem to look just like yours (8-spoke) except mine are only 6" wide. Is the +44mm offset you speak of stamped on your wheels?

offset on your 6" wide rim should be pretty close if not the same.
Maybe it's stamped in the back.. dont know, this is what I see.....
btw.. nice you can get a 2011 D22 with the bulletproof QD32 engine.

Okay now you've got me thinking again. You say that you're going with a 15" wheel in the future. What width and offset will that wheel be to clear the brake caliper?

Also what tyre would you comfortably fit with that wheel with an unmodified suspension set-up? A 31x10.50R15 size?

at least a 15x7 +10 offset wheel, I got me 15x7 0 offset... yeah 31x10.5, I will probably need to remove front mudflaps or wind up the torsion bars a little bit

Hmmmmm. Well I see that Black Rock makes a fairly light weight 15"x8" steel wheel with a +6mm offset and 4-3/4" back spacing (Black Rock Part# 905586047).

Now everyone confirms on numerous threads in this forum that you can fit a 16"x7" wheel with a 265/70R16 tyre with no rubbing with a stock suspension set-up. That is even a wheel and tyre size offered straight from the factory for some D22 models........with stock wheel offset of course.

Looking at Toyo Open Country A/T II tyre specs, for a P265/70R16 measured on a 8" wide wheel, the overall tyre diameter is 30.6" and overall width is 10.7".

Now looking at Kumho KL71 tyre specs, for a 31x10.50R15 measured on a 8.5" wide wheel, the overall diameter is 30.6" and overall width is 10.6".

Seeing that both 16" and 15" tyres compared above share the same overall diameter and width, technically the 31x10.50R15 tyre should fit with no rubbing once the wheel offset is "+" enough like the stock wheels.

It doesn't look like 31x10.50R15 sized tyres are a popular option with ppl on this forum however to get much feedback?!?
