03 D22 zd30 cranks but won't start

Hi All, need help with my 03 D22 with zd30. It cranks over but won't start the oil light, battery light and engine light are on the dash. It has a new battery and glow plugs and the starter motor engages and just wandering if it would it be the fuel pump or something else.

see if you can get someone to do a code read for you if there are no codes then do a search on this forum eg zd30 wont start and you will get heaps of info here

Hey Bird, where are you? Are you getting a check engine light (CEL)?
Is the tacho jumping while cranking or stationery?
As Izzibri said a code read would help, someone nearby may have a reader, otherwise there is a flashing light method to be found on a thread here somewhere

The ‘03 did not have a lot of engine management compared to recent. Wondering what mechanical work u may have done before the problem. U say it has new glow plugs, have u checked they are working? Did u replace because it was not staring?

Could be either. Have you checked that the fuel primer pump on top of the filter is firm and fuel is getting to the injector pump? Should take no more than a few pumps.

As above, what other work have you had done recently?

Yeah they have come down in price, $1800 up to rebuild your own pump, or exchange!

It's the labour that kills it eh plus the extras, chain kit, bolts seals etc if you do it by the manual you are to replace the injector hard lines also,,, $100 up ea...
