    Turbo noise.

Also wipe some of the oil in the intake pipework with a dark cloth. Look at the cloth, if you can see shiny speckles then that is a sign that the turbo bearings are wearing.

    outlaw mapping

You can hardly feel the gearchange on my 2014 V6, not remapped. It is likely that you need to get the ATF changed or topped up.

    outlaw mapping

It's not the best advice for the following reasons.. The transmission is rated at 600nm, you already have 550 so you are closer to the limit. Many have had problems with remaps, specifically fault codes. 99% of remappers drop in a map developed by somebody else. They don't build the remap on...

    Limited Slip Diff??

I've seen wet grass slopes defeat four wheel drives and being driven past by an old VW It's all about the tyres, it doesn't matter how many wheels are spinning if they are road pattern (and wide). Rather that spend thousands on a diff, tyres with more grip such as ATs are a better option.

    D40 and D23 Rims

The D23 wheels have a more positive offset than the D40. So in other words if you fit D40 wheels to a D23 they will stick out beyond the arches. As above there are a number of different OEM wheels as well as a range of aftermarket ones.

    DPF or not?

Australia followed Euro 4 standards until 2016, which meant all automatic Navaras required a DPF. Manuals did not.

    Can’t find dipstick

Here's one. A Citroën C3, quite different from the C3 you can buy today.

    Can’t find dipstick

I bought a 1925 Citroen a few years ago, almost everything is adjustable for wear, which I guess is why it is still on the road. I don't think my Navara will still be on road in 93 years time ( nor will I)

    DPF or not?

If it has the V9x engine with DPF, it will look like below. Mine is a UK, it has a dpf and a fuel line feeding it.

Auto trans taking tie to engage drive STX-550

When mine did that I did a fluid change.

    Can’t find dipstick

No conspiracy, the world moves on. For better or worse. You may remember grease nipples, adjustable wheel bearings, adjustable track rod ends, distributor points gap, topping up batteries, timing lights, replacing king pins, bronze bushes, reaming, cleaning spark plugs, decokes, adjusting drum...

    ST-X 550 losing power

Are you saying there was a fault code present linked to the turbo intake sensor? If so, that should be your first area to investigate.

V9X STX550 Oil change, does it need to be done quickly.

It doesn't sound likely. Done at least a dozen oil changes myself without any issues. (Apart from that odd drain through the cross member)

    Can’t find dipstick

What's interesting is that for example BMW and Jaguar claim their ZF transmissions have a lifetime fill. ZF themselves recommend that the "lifetime fill" fluid should be changed at 160k Kms. I suppose the average new car buyer won't give ATF changes a second thought.

    Voltage Sensing Relay (VSR) question

In simple terms, the alternator voltage regulator prevents overcharging, regardless of the number of batteries. On a non smart alternator system such as the D22, you will be perfectly fine with a vsr as an AGM battery will be happy with 14.8 volts There are many fancy solutions to make it...

    euro six upgrades

Just to be clear, it was a legal requirement for all new diesel vehicles in the UK to be Euro 6 from Sept 2015. No idea what the numbers refer to. If you Google Navara D23 you can check the images.

    Can’t find dipstick

ZF are a German manufacturer of gearboxes. Probably the world leader in large engine automatic transmissions.

    euro six upgrades

Assuming it is a D23, registered Sept 2015 to April 2016, then it is already CAZ compliant.

    Can’t find dipstick

Automatic transmissions don't generally have dipsticks any more. I think ZF led the way, but others have followed. The "new" method is pretty simple though, you buy the kit which has adaptors for various brands and use it to drain and refill the fluid from underneath. It's a simple job if you...
