Is anyone currently running 275/70/R17 tyres? How common is this size? Any issues with guard or chassis clearance? Are they too wide for the stock alloys? (My D40 has a 2" lift and I have 2 sets of stock alloys at 16" and 17". Currently running 265/75/R16...but they're stuffed)

We use aviation sealant at work on difficult flanges. As Scuba Steve said, Paint it onto both sides of the gasket. It gets results... mostly. .... and no matter how hard you try it ends up making a bloody mess everywhere :rolleyes:

Maybe your sump pan has had a whack and it's lifted away from the block? It wouldn't need to be much to create a leak past a paper gasket.... Maybe there's a hairline crack in the pan? Again, even a tiny one will promote leakage... especially with vibration. Are all the pan bolts tensioned...

Holy ****. That went south real quick. Pretty much a perfect demo of all the things not to do. I wasn't there, so my assumptions could be wrong, but it looks like there was no recovery gear prepped before crossing, no recovery plan made with other vehicles and no pre-walk or depth investigation...
