And then at the 120K Service

Just got the call that Nissan have approved the timing chain replacement under warranty and the parts have been dispatched from Melbourne. Car goes in 6 May for the work.

And then at the 120K Service

I've only ever dealt with 3 dealerships: Lennock Motors in Canberra, Westco Motors in Cairns and Nowra City Nissan......I've had a great experience with all 3 and have yet to find any of the issues that others talk about. I have had my car serviced by Nissan from new except on two occasions -...

And then at the 120K Service

OK folks I've just got my car back after having the 120,000km service done and when I dropped it off I happened to mention: 1. There was a slight oil weepage at the inside of both rear wheels 2. That I either had a noisy injector or the timing chain was starting to rattle. Item 1 will be...

    Safety Recall - Towbar

Thinking I just might keep my eye out for an FJ Cruiser....and pimp it up a tad...can't possibly use more fuel than my D40 does :-)

    Safety Recall - Towbar

Charge for a recall?? Are you sure? Is so, your dealer is ripping you off if you paid labour costs for a factory recall as Nissan pays the full cost. I'm guessing that your car is also older than 2008 as mine has only been subject of bonnet latch, wheels and now towbar. The airbag thing was...

    oil leak...3 months old WTF??

I personally think the first piece of absolutely necessary aftermarket kit for the D40 is a FUG aka a front underbody guard made of at least 3mm steel.

    D40 Towbar Recall

Bugger Paul....didn't see that and I did a search too. Maybe Old Tony can delete the thread.

    D40 Towbar Recall

Just received notice of a recall on the towbar for my D40 (yep I have a genuine one). Just thought I'd post it here in case any of the guys with 2nd hand D40s don't get the advice.

    Anyone recognise the red D40?

Yep mistakes are one thing.....but hopefully someone will see those in the video and maybe learn from them. I have seen the results of using a towball (ie an unrated recovery point) and there is a family in that town that still grieves for their 13 yo son who died as a result of a serious head...

Have a steep driveway.....a word of caution

Checked every part of the fuel system and then some and nothing found that could explain this problem. Wondering if anyone else who has a steep driveway could run an overnight test with the arse end of the car facing downhill.......just to see if this might be a design thing.

Have a steep driveway.....a word of caution

Having another think about this, the injectors by design are NRVs and there is most likely one designed into the injector pump.....but elsewhere in the system....??? Help OldTony :-)

Have a steep driveway.....a word of caution

Went looking for an NRV in the fuel system (in the workshop manual that I have) and damned if I can find one. Being an aircraft engineer by profession I'm used to these being fitted in both the engine and airframe fuel systems but buggered if'n I can find on in the Nav's system. Maybe there is...

Have a steep driveway.....a word of caution

I made the assumption I did because I'd just filled the tank....there was >150ltrs in a 150ltr tank....ie the fuel was right up to the top of the filler point so I don't see how it could possibly be sucking air. Happy to be corrected though.

    Anyone recognise the red D40?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BQ158NgNoPI Some pretty ordinary and some downright dangerous recovery techniques being used in this video.

Have a steep driveway.....a word of caution

Pretty much what Nathan22 says....I believe that all Spanish built D40s fitted with the YD25 engine have a different filter system to the D22 fitted with the same engine. The D40 has the bulb under the filter but the D22 has the primer as an integral part of the filter housing....and like...

Have a steep driveway.....a word of caution

I have a relatively steep driveway and after parking with the rear of the vehicle downhill overnight the other night I learnt something new about the car. I've been doing some maintenance on the storage unit and auxiliary power supply etc that I have built into the tub and was parked rear into...

Tough Dog lift kit - Great

While I don't have tough dog struts it should be no different fitting spacers whoever the manufacturer. I've got Snake Racing spacers fitted to my front end to compensate for the sagging - I've a lot of extra weight up front as well. The spacers were originally 35 mm but they've been machined...

4x4 4H back to 2WD is it meant to flash?

Normal mate and while the mode light is flashing it means that the transfer case is still engaged. You may have to back off the throttle a little or even back up a metre or so for 4WD to fully disengage.

    Wiper blades for D40 STX

If you don't live in the vicinity of a Costco barn then Repco also have a generic that replaces the whole head kit. Can't remember the retail price but it is a lost cheaper than Nissan "genuine".
