The V6 Diesel D40 has arrived.

Nissan really did cut corners when getting this motor in there. Normal D40 Airbox, plumbing from the 147kw motor etc... If they had done it all properly they could have labeled it the STX660 and it would have probably lasted longer than the current ones will. They use the wire wrap around the...

The V6 Diesel D40 has arrived.

I had a sneaking suspicion that -2psi or more of intake restriction would take its toll on the turbo. They used the same airbox that the 2.5 Has had for the last few years on a motor making alot more power and running alot more boost. With that much restriction it continually places the...

Finally got the 3" exh. just some questions.

That part is very true. The turbulence caused by the mixing of gated gas to turbine gas is very important to minimize on an wastegated turbo. This is what has all the other shops confused when I post actual data and testing of smaller systems with no change in dump pipe 'd40 for example' They...

Stock downpipe, cat delete + 3" catback exhaust

Tony, im not sure if I put those exact dyno graphs up in the other post regarding 3" systems but I do have the data in the dyno still. I will try and dig it out tomorrow for you. Basically we found the difference between std cat, 200cel metal substrate hiflow and no cat was all of about 2kw...

    Limp mode on D40

Well, pulling the sensor out and cleaning it would be my first suggestion. It is magnetic so it will latch onto any metal fillings etc... Which there shouldnt really be any of in that area as the clutch will be either an organic or ceramic type. What else is done to the vehicle? Exhaust? Chip...

Finally got the 3" exh. just some questions.

Yes, but less power means less airflow. Making the 3" even more unnecessary than it is in a D40. I will see what I can find.

Finally got the 3" exh. just some questions.

Well, not to different if he has the YD25... Alas I can dig up the testing from both YD&ZD on the D22's tomorrow if I have time for you guys. Dyno wont disagree with you. A 3" system is a huge step up from standard. All I was saying is a 2.5" gives all the benefits of a 3" anyway, so its 6 of...

Finally got the 3" exh. just some questions.

I have made a few posts regarding the exhaust system including dump pipe change, 2.5-3" etc and everything in between. If you do a search for posts I have made you will be able to find it, with supporting dyno graphs showing the lack of any gains in doing so. I think the gain going from std...

The V6 Diesel D40 has arrived.

I honestly found the performance lacking compared to what I was expecting out of it. Then I assumed they were tuned very lightly... not quite :( As for running in procedures. The more load the better, dont use to many revs 'Sub 3Krpm preferably' and dont sit on the same rev's for long periods...

vibration under car while accelarting from 1700rpm to 2000rpm

Thats the speed at which it is most out of balance. The clutch/flywheel is all one unit called a dual mass as mentioned. They are around $3500 for a replacement unit if not under warranty. Or Alternatively, and I do alot of them. A solid flywheel and clutch replacement is around $1700. I have...

    Water injection

No water will get into your sump. Remember that water boils at 100deg, compression temperature alone will exceed this on a diesel. A good system will be up around 200-300psi of water pressure. It comes out looking like smoke instead of water droplets if you use the correct sized nozzle to...

    Post your dyno charts here

I wonder if by 'looking outside the square' you mean doubting a questionable dyno graph, and giving good factual information on some of the oddities in the data you provided? The reason I take the time to question these things is so other users/readers without the knowledge and experience in...

    Post your dyno charts here

There is a few things I will pull you up on in your post. BUT! Only things that I have personally tested on this motor and know for a fact that they arent as you say. Exhaust system - At best 40-50deg drop, not 150+ Decent Intercooler however can offer more than a 70deg drop as you stated...
