    D21 Project

As above. Go for the KA24E if you can. KA24DE head won't fit on the KA24E block as far as I know, but nothing wrong with a KA24E. Check which gearbox. Not sure when they changed over, but the earlier manuals were a bit weak (the 71C), later manuals were better and the autos were the...

    Engine RPM 4x4

What engine, mate? Does seem a little high, but they're not built for speed. You got big tyres?

Thanks Nav, I wouldn't even had thought to check!

    4x4 box just rebuilt

Pain in the ass indeed. I've just replaced the gearbox in mine, doing the work myself. Not something I'd be keen to do again, and only did it because it's the extra car. Still not back on the road yet. Any idea what the breakdown in cost was? How much for labour to remove and fit the box...

    Toowoomba d22 owners

You might also have better luck posting in the D22 section instead of the D21 section.

    D21 Paint Code ID's..........

This is what I've got for those colours. I've bought paint using these codes that seems to match pretty well.

Cheap intercooler setup - Anti turbo go bang damage????

That's how my LR Disco is set up. I don't tend to get it very muddy though :)

    2000 Rodeo rims to fit 1995 D21 4X4??????????

Isn't 205-75-16 the tyre dimensions not the wheels? If you want to work out whether the wheels fit or not, you have to find out the pitch http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/htmlpages/TechWheels.htm

    Project FrankenStout

Like it. I've put a response to the D21/720 question in your other post in the D21 section.

    New D21 owner

Ha! Love it. Never heard of a Toyota Stout. Assuming it is a 4WD, there is one difference between the 720 and D21 that I'm aware of, and that is the drivetrain. The 720 had a divorced (separate) transfer case (ie gearbox - short driveshaft - transfer case), while the D21 had a transfer case...

    D21 Paint Code ID's..........

Silver on top, blue on the bottom half? If so, I've got the codes in the handbook in my glovebox.

    d21 towing capacity

I've towed a WD21 Terrano on a trailer with my D21 (manual KA24E). Kept looking in the rear view mirror and pooing my pants when I saw some tailgating bastard sitting right behind me! Only towed it for about 30km, but towed fine, but as above, not real quick. And agree, tow in 4th if using a...

White smoke, hard to start when facing down hill

If it helps, they're identical to td42 patrol injectors, but testing shouldn't be too much

White smoke, hard to start when facing down hill

That's what I was thinking too. Any chance that there could a leak at the front of an injector, meaning when its downhill, it leaks more??? Seems a stretch, I know. (I thought an EGR in place might allow the fuel to trickle out when facing up hill, but not down) Did you ever try the priming...

    brake master cylinder

Good to know. Thanks for reporting back.

White smoke, hard to start when facing down hill

EGR intact or removed? I'm going to guess intact (I'll tell you why if I'm right) I suspect that's not brilliant fuel use, but possible depending on how you drive it. I'm more a petrol sort of fellow, and just learning about diesel

    brake master cylinder

Well, let us know when you've tried it out :) Alternatively, I've got a spare master cylinder here. Buy me a D22 and I'll try it out and let you know.

White smoke, hard to start when facing down hill

Silly question, when you say new second hand engine, was it always a diesel engine in the car?
