Install Dual USB and 12v Outlets

The last thing to do was start the car and stand back to see what happens. I was expecting a fuse to blow somewhere but it was all good. I mounted the fuse block under the dash in between the centre facial and glove box. I also added my UHF onto this fuse block. I used a 5a fuse on the...

Install Dual USB and 12v Outlets

Got a bit slack with the photos from then on but the only thing left to do was wire in the relay and hook it all up to the battery at the front. I used a 30a 5 pin relay. The wiring kit that came with the Waeco socket already had a fuse holder and terminals to attach it to the battery. I used...

Install Dual USB and 12v Outlets

Once that is done there are three screws that need to be undone, 2 on the passenger side of the surround for the gear sticks and 1 at the bottom of the aircon/stereo/ashtray facia. Undo all three and feed the cable under them to hide them away. You should only see a little bit of cable between...

Install Dual USB and 12v Outlets

Once the console is out, poke the desired switch blank out. I used a rocker style dual USB I got from Jaycar (there are plenty available online through Ebay as well, I just had the bug to do something today and didn't want to wait for delivery from China). You will need to file the inside of...

Install Dual USB and 12v Outlets

I was getting sick of the tangle of cords and 12v socket jacks etc. when the family go on a road trip. The missus and kids have their tablets and then there are 2 mobiles in the car as well. Then I need to find somewhere to plug the GPS into. So to free up some space I decided to install dual...

    09 D22 dual battery setup

Just put 2 optima D34 yellow top batteries into the front of my Nav, replacing the originals. The only issue was that you can't get opposite post for positive and negative on the passenger side. This made the negative battery terminal too far away from the negative battery clamp. It was an...

    Getting lifted

OK. I spoke with Tough Dog about what had happened with my lift and I sent them a pic of the bracket and they suggested I get back in touch with OL and take it to them for a look. I get the feeling that they "discussed" the matter with Opposite Lock as well. I was over near them for work and...

    Getting lifted

I rang Opposite Lock in Rockhampton who fitted the lift kit to advise them of some concerns I have regarding the lift. When I started talking about the front dropping and the torsion bar anchor arm/bracket I got the feeling that they weren't that interested. The guy told me they will go over...

    Getting lifted

I didn't think they were sticking out like that prior to the lift. I'm not happy with the ride height at the front left either. They quoted 780mm after the lift and it is already at 745. I expect a bit of settle but not 35mm in 6 days. I'll be getting it back to them to sort it out.

Here is a pic of the torsion bar bracket. The left side is the same.

    Getting lifted

Here are some after pics of under the vehicle. I am a bit concerned with how the brackets for the torsion bars are hanging down out of the cross members. Does anyone else have theirs looking like this?

    Getting lifted

After heights are as follows: Right rear: 545mm Right front: 540mm Left rear: 540mm Left front: 530mm Rear has lifted around 70mm and front is not that much different. The place that installed it has listed bigger increases on the receipt they provided. They have measured from the bottom of...

    Getting lifted

Getting a 2 inch Tough Dog lift kit fitted tomorrow. Current suspension is still factory Nissan and has done just over 67,000. Current heights from axle centre to arch are as follows: Right rear: 475mm Left rear: 485 mm Right front: 525mm Left front: 520mm I have rear drawers, third battery...

D22 YD25 Liqui Moly Diesel Purge

BTW, I completed this on a 5000km oil and filter change I completed, not a 10000km service with a mechanic.

D22 YD25 Liqui Moly Diesel Purge

I have done about 1500km since completing this. So far I have found the following: Engine Noise: seems about the same. It sounded a little quieter when first completed, can't really notice a change now, but I could be use to the changed noise level too. Sootiness: Seems about the same. Still...

stock suspension / height - bigger tyres

Same here. I've got 265/75's on stock suspension. I haven't wound up torsion bars and have had no issues with rubbing or scrubbing in the guards.

D22 YD25 Liqui Moly Diesel Purge

Hi all, first of all thanks Rusty for a great thread. Pics are great and show clearly what needs to be done with the instructions. Completed this today and I'm not the most mechanically minded or capable person out there. Had no issues through the process and took it for a spin once I...

    4wd suspension

Hi Zordo, Cahsing some prices on a fitted D22 lift kit. I live in Rockhampton and got a few quotes around here and was looking at around $2100 fitted for either EFS, Dobinsons or Toughdog kits. Toughdog quote included 0-300kg springs, HD Torsion Bars, 41mm Foam Cell shocks (F&R), urethane...
