hey crew,
the lag from 500-2000 rpm in my d22 2.5 str is quite annoying
has anyone completed a new exhaust system or thrown in a dchip?
i have tried a d chip this weekend and i think its made it better to a point.
its meant to be 22kw gain and 100nm of touque.
they reckon an exhaust system will coat 1700 aussie dollars and should helpp the turbo breath from the first boot in the guts all the way through.
i have recently purchased after having a ford ranger in the 3.0td and the ford smashes it in power. it is totally different to drive. im not ripping on the navara i think its a great truck i just think it can be better with a little bit of help

Welcome to the forum, Matty.

Different engines, different components, different tunes all make for different responses.

The Ranger will have more torque simply because of the bigger cubes. That will help with low-down power. Your D22 might also have an issue with the air piping. Some people have noticed that replacing the air hosing with metal (as much as possible) reduces the turbo lag noticeably.

keep in mind the what market the '22 is intended for....its a tractor not a limo, meant for the farm or the tradie...its a workhorse

I would say check out the Beaudesert Exhaust and get a bigger dump pipe. I think their system was only $1300 or something like that. That should reduce the turbo lag.

Yea i'm pretty sure the D22 has the lowest power of the dual cab utes., by a fair bit too.

i think blocking off egr helps with the power in the low rpms. there a thread on it here somewhere.

yes its the lowest power of the utes, even less than the old D22 motor. also its the only one with normal turbo instead of variable.

cheers boys
heading round for an aus trip for a year or two so i want it at its best. pretty much done everything else on it.
yeah in nsw coffs area. navara day out for sure.
will get onto it and sort this out.

I would use angle grinder. But all I have at my disposal is that and a tiny Dremel.
Maybe even tin snips if you have the strength for it.

Just remember you want the plate as flat as possible so tin snips would be a last resort and only if you also have a hammer.

Don't forget to use Permatex sensor-safe Ultra Blue gasket cement on both sides.

First of I would say that exhaust is way way over priced. I think northside had a comparison in one of the chip threads about only needin a 2.5 inch exhaust and that goin for the 3inch is just a waste and does not give any more benefit.
A intercooler kit would also cut down on turbo lag too.

And welcome to the forum
