hi all i am new to the 4wd seen and the navara forum. i just purchased a 07 d40 nav 2.5 auto. the deisel pump has been changed, and the car has done 244 000km. is there anything i have to be mindful of.

Welcome to the forums.

Check too see if it's had the recalls done. (search the site for "vehicle recalls") They are each listed in threads here in the D40 section. One was the bonnet strap another was the rims and there might even have been a recall on the tail lights in the 07, I can't remember.

Recalls done by Nissan should have stickers on either of the door pillars explaining what was done or a sticker in the book. If they haven't been done you may have to pay for them yourself but Nissan is the best place to go when it comes to talking about them, you don't have to use Nissan to apply the fix if they are going to charge you but they should be the best to ask the advice.

Other than that probably not a lot especially if it's good a decent service history.

Welcome to the forum.

At that age, you'd expect to hear the timing chain and some noise from the injectors unless either or both had been replaced and if they have, it's going to go well. Take it for a test drive and get it to 80km/h or more. The engine revs should drop at 80km to around 1600-1700rpm and a light pressure on the accelerator should make the vehicle speed up but the rpm should not jump up - if that's working properly, your gearbox is probably good.

thanx guys. brought the car now havn the wrost f n luck because now i need to replace injectors im guessing or possible timing chain, makes a tapping noise like injector pump but a little louder and annoying, under really light load cruising at like 80km/ph sometimes under full throttle aswell. But most of the time under load the noise is quite. Other than that the car drives mint auto feels mint doesnt puff smoke. Does anyone know wat the go is or hav the same problem.....

Check the air box. Mine makes that sort of noise - my air box has a broken clip on the lower section, the entire side of the box flaps open. The filter is intact and sealed properly, but I can't do water crossings until the replacement is installed (hopefully this Thursday).

If that looks ok, get someone with a stethoscope to have a listen to the engine at the front (timing chains).

You might try running some Chemtech Diesel Power additive through a tank of fuel and see how it responds.

The nissans are pretty noisey engines and you would think you would notice a miss or lack of power or something if an injector was **** but timing chain is something you would want to get checked asap

It is really hard with noises because what sounds loud to me might not to you etc, particularly when describing how loud it is.

I can hear a tapping sound at different times which has been noticable since new. Compared to my wifes diesel Pajero which sounds like it's arse is about to drop out when cold, the Navara purrs like a kitten.

I would be getting an opinion from a diesel specialist or 2 before getting too concerned.

P.S Have you taken any others for a "test drive" to compare?
