I've been looking at them as well. I'd rather secure them with the 3m tape then silicon or glue.

A caramel wheel will remove 99% of anything stuck to the paint without damaging it if you ever decide to remove them in the future.

I'd also stay away from automatic car washes as they could blow/rip them off.

most if not all modern weather shields are held on with double sided tape, well the last three cars ive had them on have all been that way with no issues.

Purchased them 6 months ago and going nicely. Tidy fitment.

Better than the ones with clip/screws as in my experience they just end up scratching the glass.

I use to use allot of D/S tape when i was doing sign installs and you will find heaps of things that you would not expect to be held with the stuff, yes good quality D/S tape is strong and yes it is sticky, BUT when you do go to remove it you will find it will generally tear in half leaving some of its tape and foam centre on both surfaces, then all you do is soak it a little while with a TURPS rag and it will soften and go gooey, then with another turps rag and a bit of elbow grease just rub it off.

If it is super strong you can apply a SMALL amount of heat with a heat gun and repeat step one.

The only time i think it will tear the paint is, If it hasnt been prepped correctly and is fresh or if there is a problem with the surface the paint is applied to, like chips or bubbles ect
