V6 Petrol oil filter

Am just about to drop the oil out of the engine. Last time I used a genuine filter and crush washer when I did the change.
I got a Ryco fiilter this time and am wondering do I still need to get a crush washer or thats only on genuine filters.
Anyone?

Crush washer on a oil filter? I think thats for the sump plug.
