A bit more storage room in the d22 would come in handy when taking the misses and the young fella out camping.

Thought about canopys and different tray setups for a while...
but was struggling to come up with something that would do everything.

Wasnt real keen on a canopy as i like an open ute.
Didnt want to spend a heap on a tray to find it wasnt quite what i wanted.

So i decided a removable "tub rack" would be the best compromise, and not cost a whole so it wont matter if it doesnt get a lot of use.

Anyway this is what ive come up with.
Just needs some paint and bolting up.

Good work Ben!, you had something knocked off a while ago didn't you?, I guess if you could somehow chain your gear down and make a cover to keep it away from theiving eyes that would be good.

Yeah, my roofbasket was unbolted and taken from the truck earlier this year.
I dont park the truck on the street any more and i now have a cctv system.
Some nights i sit on my porch with a 12 gauge while having a cigar just for my own amusement

i am thinking on making up something simular but i will use the front chrome bar and fit a rear chrome bar then attatch a basket . your is a good idea Ben but theres not much space under to get into the tub to pull something out .

100mm below the main racks and 130mm below the mesh platform.
Not heaps of room but enough to access things well enough.

I want to keep it low so its not sitting up creating extra wind drag like things do on the roof basket.
I will probably strap a decent size space case or 2 on it which will sit below the height of the roof basket.

thought i'd post an update on the tub rack.

its been pretty useful so far, can carry a heap of gear, done plenty of rough stuff with it too and not a drama.
