Time for a birthday - Sourcing Parts?

OK, I was going to start a new thread, but thought it belonged here.

I'm gearing up to give my 2007 ST-X a birthday. With 285,000km on the clock, she's starting to feel a bit tired. I've got a weeping head gasket to repair, and what appears to be an increasingly noisy timing chain.
I feel capable enough to tackle both of these myself, aside from head machining which I'll have the local machine shop do for me.

Which brings me to my reason for posting here. Where is the best place to source parts required? As far as I'm aware, my requirements are a VRS kit (with head bolts) and the timing chain kit (sprockets required as well?).
I've done endless ebaying, but the quality available is undetermined.

I'd love to save money, cos its always better in my pocket than someone else's, but not at the cost of reliability.

i only know of one supplier / repairer that specialises in the navara which is;
YD-25. com. these guys are based in Brisbane and have whatever you need .

Yeah, I'm aware of YD25.com.au, I was unaware they did stuff like VRS kits.
I was intending to get one of their EGR delete kits to totally be rid of that demon.

I'll be honest, I'm not really considering a double row timing chain, I have a bit of reluctance to spend over 10%* of the price I paid for the ute on it when the OEM single row has apparently nearly given 300,000km.
With complete renewal of the chains, tensioners and possibly sprockets, as well as the right maintenance, there's no reason it shouldn't see another 280,000+kms.

*EDIT: grapevine has told me YD25's kit is in the realm of $1600, I could be totally wrong here. It's a lot of money I could use elsewhere if what I hear is correct though.

not sure on the total cost a double row chain kit but if you go for the single chain set again make sure you buy a good brand as there are some cheap and nasties on the market.

If it was me, I'd go dual no point doing the job and not put the best back in

maybe not Mike, with approx 300k on the clock now , whats the life span of this engine with a new timing chain fitted. lets not forget about the main moving parts inside the engine such as the pistons / conrods / crank / bearings etc etc , when will one of these break down.
i think i would just fit a new chain and do the head gasket etc, wouldn,t go overboard on costs. then again how about a brand new crate engine ready to go?

I put a yd25.com.au dual row kit in my 07 stx when my oem timing chain snapped at 70,000k
Had no rattle or signs of wear, just went ping and lunched the head.
Reckon the dual row worth the money coz it comes with all gears, parts and bits and pieces included neatly packaged and ready to go.
All the parts are top notch too, german made iwis timing chain, genuine nissan tensioner etc, and gears im pretty sure yd25 make themselves
I have no affiliation with paul at yd25, just a very happy customer

I think what Murph is saying is he doesn,t really want to spend to much money on this repair work and i can see why with those K,s on the clock . i must say the original chain lasted well.
