Intro:
Dropped the deposit today on a Nissan Navara D22 ST-R and collect it in a few days.

The wife wanted a dual cab and I wanted something with a tray, but there wasn't anything in our price range that didn't have a 3.0L engines. So, we will run with the ute for a few years before we sort out exactly what we want/need on the tray and the rest of the vehicle.

After collecting it, it will be time to work out where to go for the first short run to start breaking it in. I'm also under orders to find an easier way of getting the tent up.

Since it is the only vehicle, it will mostly be around town at first, then hopefully will do a bit of long weekend adventuring. Mostly into camping in out of the way places and expect to used the 4WD to improve the safety side.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the new beast!

What area are you from? People are here from all over the place and can point you at the kind of thing you might want to do - which is what, forest, beach, mud, desert?

Welcome Terry to the wonderful banter here between d22 and d40 owners ... (with the odd d21 mixed in too)

I'm sure you'll enjoy the new UTE ...

Hairologist?

SW Sydney.

We would be Forests and Mountains people. I have nothing against beaches, except that I've never caught any fish there (and few anywhere else for that matter).

I have enjoyed reading a few of the trips stories. Some ideas there. Just need to get all the going away kit back together.

If you want a moderate run that a stock vehicle can do (if it's dry weather), come along to our Yengo National Park Day Trip on 13 November 2010.

The track initially is easy enough for any vehicle (with the exception of cruise ships and stuff made by Boeing) to negotiate. The latter part of the track - when we get to Howes Valley Trail - is more of a challenge, with some steep climbs up and down rocky inclines.

Expect to use about a quarter of a tank of fuel between Wollombi and the Putty Road (we come out just south of Howes Valley). Drive south there to Windsor for a nice round trip.

Its basically 2 or 3km's from Laguna, I can hear you say where the !@#$ is that.

Go to Wolimbi and turn left and follow that road.

Dave.
