New Lift regulations
New Suspension regulations
As we have discussed many times the Government in their infinite wisdom is bringing in much tighter rules n regs .
For a little light reading
National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (NCOP)
Down to how that really effects us.
In the ACT already they have decided that in this the National A55hole , they will take the rules rather seriously.
As per the rules that you have just read mainly section 11 you will know now that 50mm is the magic figure they use for the limitations. Anything above 50mm is not requiring an Engineers Report. If I read right all body lifts need a report.
Now the reality is the local Rego Inspectors ( mechanics that cant get real jobs cos they are that bad) have decided that the 50mm is a total amount of lift , so combined lift of suspension and tyres.
A few facts and figures.
All vehicles have to register their dimensions with DOTARS and as such they ultimately govern our heights etc.
Nissan Australia registered that the Nissan Navara Dual Cab D40 4x2 has the following dimensions.
Front
Wheel center to guard eyebrow centre is 501mm
Rear
Wheel center to guard eyebrow centre is 536mm
And they also have minimums
front 473mm
rear 498
So you cant drop that sucker in the eeeds either
Tyre info
Factory Rubber
Continental
255/70/R16
Width 255mm
Dia 763.27 mm
Circ 2397.7 mm
Radius 381.50 mm ( height from centre of wheel to ground )
BFG
265/75/R16
Width 265mm
Dia 803.65 mm
Circ 2524.5 mm
Radius 401.82 mm ( height from centre of wheel to ground )
Actual amount of lift 20.32mm
BFG
265/70/R17
Width 265mm
Dia 802.64 mm
Circ 2521.4 mm
Radius 401.32 mm ( height from centre of wheel to ground )
Actual amount of lift 19.82mm
Now all those measurements are from a tyre size calculator coyrtesy of 1010tires in Canada
Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing
So lets just say that
