stx550 bose audio system

first time on, I am getting out of a 2008 stx and into a 2012 stx 550. I don't get it for another 3 weeks and I am curious as to how the audio hard drive is loaded. Does any on have one of these models and is there any advise as the dealers really don't know. Also can the dvd player be activated while driving by disconecting from hand brake etc as can be done on other vehicles. any advise appreciated.

I have a 550 and can tell you the HDD system can be set to automatically copy any CD's you play and save them to the HDD for playback.

Unfortunately only CD's can be copied onto the HDD.

In regards to playback by tricking the HDD cable, I don't think this will work. It is a fairly sophisticated system and can imagine they activate the safety mechanism through combined speed and GPS motion.
