Hi Guy's new member just brought a 06 str with 85 k on it rear springs are sagged what best to do reset and add a leaf of buy after market and if so what brand .Will not be carring much load just drive car Chris

They were factory fitted with saggy springs.
Old man Emu Dakar springs are what I am running and they are much improved over standard. Also consider Lovells and Tough dog. Any way you go they are cheaper than originals.

Whereabouts are you? might be able to assist.

Aido Are located in Toowoomba .Have been reading other threads and see diffrent rated rear springs 150 kg or300kg we will be doing trip later in year with camper trailer etc so thinking to go to new (efs or iron man ?) Have been told factory we weak springs to make good ride when new vehicles for test drives to help sell?

Hi Chris,

I just installed a 2" lift kit in my D22. I used ToughDog 300kg rear leaf springs and the ride is fairly hard when the tray is empty.

I don't mind it too much because I acknowledge it is a work ute and not a family sedan. When I load it to go away with the camper on the back it will sit perfect. The standard springs are a bit of a joke for load bearing.

Bear in mind a 2" lift with 300kg springs in an empty ute will sit higher than the standard 2". in my case about about an inch and a half higher than the initial 2 inches.

I like the ride although it is a bit stiff.

Cheers,

DJ

Hi Chris

Ride is not to bad.I haven't given it a good work out yet.I still have to put some of my gear in the back to see how goes with some weight in it.

DJ how much lift did you get at the front?.Did you put new torsion bar in?

Hey Shane,

I wound them up (standard torsion bars) until I got 65mm, then drove it to settle them in and they have dropped into a perfect 50mm. Pretty happy with that. So my front end sits 50mm higher or 760mm top of wheel arch to bottom of rim and the rear end is 75mm measuring 800mm top of wheel arch to bottom of rim.

It sits a little nose down or arse up if you like, but it looks the goods and gives me heaps of height. I need to lift my arse up a little to slide onto the drivers seat.

The bumpier ride seems to put the kids to sleep better, go figure!

All good and have been suggested by the supplier to load the hell out of it for a couple of months to allow it to sag about another 10-12mm.

Whatever ..... I'm happy!

I have a set of Lovells going in my Nav next friday. $1000 fitted for 2 leaf springs.

Better meet my expectations.

Dave.

Thanks guys for all your advice finally went for OME rear springs and are very happy now it rides like it should thanks Chris

Research tells me that most springs here in Australia - coil, leaf or torsion bar are all manufactured by Carrols to all the same spec to suit the model. The only difference being the color and the sticker applied.
