STR power surge problem

Hi all, just new on here, had a search for my problem but couldn't find.
so here it is.
I have a 2004 STR and it has started surging in third gear, basically you put your foot down and no power, then all the sudden takes off. Have noticed recently when in fourth gear it sometimes surges also. I have just had a service done, general service, replaced fuel filter, vacuum hoses, etc. Mechanic couldn't work it out as yet, so hoping someone on here has had/knows of same problem.

i would check fuel filters are tight just had a service now surging could be air in the fuel just a thought

Sound like air getting in if the vacuum hoses have been mucked around with there could be air leaking

Try the neutral position switch test:

Welcome to the forum!

I'd test the NPS as well, as glc has suggested. It doesn't cost anything to try!

exactly what mine did a while back, it was the neutral position switch, drove me nuts till i changed it.

Did the test and it seams to be the problem, also worked out if i push the gear stick fully forward 3rd gear powers up like normal.
