removing starter motor

G'day this is the first time i've used a forum, i think i might have put my question in the wrong section, anyway, would anyone know how to remove the starter from a 1992 nissan navara 2WD Auto D21 ka24e 2.4L petrol engine. I removed the mounting bolts but can't get the starter out of the engine bay, should it come out from underneath or thru the engine bay and if so what else do i need to undo. Remove right hand wheel (have car on stand) and wheel arch lining, and bring it out through the wheel arch.

I've learnt this the hard way
