hi guys im looking to repower my boat currently it has a mercruiser 165hp more commonly know as a 220cu in chev 6 cylinder carby its a sack of shite.

Im really keen to put a nissan diesel into it ive looked at the the td42 in a patrol but they are really heavy and im looking for something lower weight and cheaper to run.

the qd32eti seems to have everything im after 150hp standard cheap to replace if it blows up and could have more power with a watercooled intercooler and few other mods.

The problem I have is its electronically controlled, im not sure if its easliy enough to fool the origional computer into doin what i need or complete computer replacment is neccessary?

Any one can help??

yes would be nice to do this but without loosing proformance.
I understand with a constant load theres probably no difference in fuel consumption, but the eti engine I think is 20 or 30hp more than the mechanical controlled injector pump, would mechanical control loose this edge?
