Hey friends, I'm having an issue with my power mirrors. They only move in two directions all of a sudden. I've checked the fuses and the switch itself. Not sure what can be the cause of this..... Please, any help or advice would be appreciated.

There are three possibilities:

1) The plug in the door has debris in it (poor connection). The wires are not big, the plug isn't robust, and I've got a pic of it in this thread which shows you how to get to it without damaging anything.

2) The interior switch contacts are gummed up. Remove it, use some electrical contact cleaner. You might consider testing the switch operation with a multimeter.

3) The motor in the mirror has failed or its mount is broken (a loose motor can't push against anything to move the mirror). You'd have to remove the mirror to check properly and that's something I haven't done yet (and may never do, especially once you see what I fitted to my car in that thread).

Good luck!

removing the mirror is 3 12 mmm nuts under the black trim on the inside, not the interior door trim, the triangular black trim infront of the door trim, remove the 3 dustcaps with a fine screw driver and you can get em, easy as, hold the mirror assembly as you remove the last nut though, so it doesn't hit the ground

also the glass is held in with plastic clips and should pop out if your gentle (had a branch knock my glass out on a track somewhere, just popped back in)

Thanks Old.Tony........ but I'm thinking that it's both my mirrors with the problem. Both left and right only move in two directions..... so maybe it has something to do with the wiring? Not sure.
