Newby here, have a d40, just back from trip to Birdsville, no dramas till intermitent loss of power, felt like dirty fuel, drained got nothing, replaced filter, still occasionally surging 2000 rpm up then kicks on say 3200.
Any ideas

There are a few threads on this problem, most seem to end up with it pointing toward the suction control valve.
I had a few probs recently with my 2010 ST, one was a funny idle when cold and the other was similar to what you describe, after Nissan changed the timing chain which made no difference they replaced the SUCTION CONTROL VALVE and it hasnt played up since admittedly i havent drove it allot since i picked it up a few days ago because it has been sold to my brother in law, but i have done over 200km in it and its seems to be sweet.

Look st the vac line to the turbo actuator. They fail as they are made from poor quality rubber. Or the turbo actuator solenoid, just follow the vac tube to find it.

G'' day mate!

Welcome aboard, good advice listed in the above comments!

PS, All the best with your Navara!
