Hi everyone. I was wondering what the symptoms are for a faulty EGR as my vehicle lost power/boost. The engine still starts and runs smoothly when when not under load right through the range from idling to being revved up. The problem is when it is under load there seems to be no power/boost as if it is in limp mode, it also blows alot of smoke and smells of unburnt fuel when under load only. When I switch off the engine it turns off straight away as normal and then after a short delay I hear a very audible double click/clunking sound (which I have never heard before) coming from the part that I circled, therefore I was wondering if that part being faulty is what the issue could be or should I be looking elsewhere?

first thing is to block the egr off, both ends preferred. looks like the intercooler is leaking which is a big problem. the fueling is done by the maf sensor which is right at the air filter, so if air leaks after the sensor you will have less air than what fuel your pouring in, which is a good way to crack the head.

Hi mate thanks for your reply. I took it into a place that specialises in fuel injection etc. It was both the EGR and the MAF sensor gone. I spoke to them about deleting the EGR instead of replacing it but had to replace it anyway as it was the butterfly inside the EGR that had broken. I am going to replace the intercooler in the next week and then re-visit blocking the EGR once that has been done. I have already previously had a Provent catch can fitted. By the way I can highly recommend the guys that I took my Nav to as they were prompt, efficient, friendly and helpful so here is the name of their company "Perth Fuel Injection Services"
