I've been looking around ebay and checking around members rides in their garages and I was wondering if firstly their was any advantage over these pod filters?

Then I thought that if I fitted a snorkel, connected it straight to the pod filter maybe I could do away with that rattly airbox and free up some space maybe for a second battery.

Feel free to dampen my parade if you wish.

Thanks,

mate its going to make 2/10 of **** all difference to power.

plus it will compromise the snorkels primary reason for being there, which is to prevent water ingress from a creek crossing.

If the pod filter assembly was sealed, as well as the stock airbox seals, there would be no difference? In regard to a creek crossing.

Is there room for a second battery?

This is a 2009 D40 STX.

i was looking at putting a k&N filter in my d22 but was told by a few mechanics that oil in the filter will gum up the air flow sensor thats just after the filter box and if it doesn't read the right airflow due to being gummed up it can cause the turbo to over spool which will eventually make it go pop

the oil in the filter is very fine

the other day i pulled the sensor out and it was covered to oil from the rocker cover...
(i dont have a catch can or k&n yet just the stock paper filter)

i think it can gum up though.... those who run those honey cone sensors i think could gum up.. i have the bar one that protrudes into the system

if i was wanting to run a pod filter i would use standard snorkel take the filter out of the airbox and get a pod filter that will seal over the top of the snorkel without the snorkel head on it kinda like this abortion but done better http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/Blader92/DSCF0042.jpg

that said id never do it there is no advantage to running a pod filter over another type of filter. just run a k&n filter in the airbox if your wanting less restriction.
