Play in steering

Hello,

Has anyone found a solution for the play in the steering issue alot of us have?

Or does it mean the Steering box is buggered?

have tried tightening the box. minor improvement.

Can anyone confirm if a steering damper is a fix?

Just for my self, can you elaborate on the "play" you are getting. My 2013 has a amount of nothing from dead centre before the feedback comes through. Just wondering if this is what you mean or is it different?

ok, so when i turn the wheel, i have approx. 25mm freeplay before it starts to turn the wheels.

Id say the ball joints are worn. A common problem on navaras the only way is to replace all of the steering links which isn't cheap

Mine has play aswell. 2013 and only done 5000km. If I sit there with the engine off I can move the steering wheel roughly 20mm one way then back to centre, then 20mm the other before it gets hard. When on the road and driving I can really notice it. It feels like I'm driving a 40 yr old bus. Got to constantly keep the hands moving! I thought it was pretty much standard. I haven't tried to tighten the steering box yet but from what I hear and read it will only help a little. I think it's pretty much what to expect with a steering box fitted truck.
