On Board Air Supply

Am toying with the idea of putting a compressed air tank in the truck.Has anyone done this and what gear did you use?

i think someone on here modified a fire extinguisher as an air receiver. I thought that was a clever idea

Damm good idea but a steel tank means bleeders for condensation mmmmm

I used a big red air compressor and a 1.5 kg gas cyl. Just mounted it fitting down so the condensation came out naturally. Still in daily use 3 years later......

What do you use it for?

Its on a little Tow Truck. Used to pump up tyres on Cars and Motorcycles to make them easier to roll into position to load....

Also used an ARB 24 volt to run Airbags in another little truck.It died after 11 months but they replaced it no questions.....Mind you it worked 12 hrs 7 days for 11 months at 80-100 psi constant pressure. No complaints from me

I work at racetracks with the truck so having an onboard air supply would make things easy when we deal with flat tyres etc .
Would be going with Anderson plugs front and rear to supply power and a second battery in the tub

Plenty on ebay.

Used a 60L LPG tank at home on my $20 Ebay air compressor. Needed initial volume to undo truck wheel nuts with a 3/4 rattle gun... All depends on how much space you want to give up....
