ome vs tough dog vs ironman

hi guys can someone guide me to a good kit they have used, i'm searching everywhere trying to get a great package, i use my d22 everyday for work and only get off beating track few times a month, i need tyres so i'm thinking sunraysias and cooper discoverys st or bf goodrich a/t ko's at same time as doing my suspension, i want to keep the car comfortable as much as capable so any light shed on topic will help thhanks

i prefer Dobinson springs over all the others, I have no complaints either regarding their shocks but they are a basic shock and a step below say bilstein or koni. mate look at the mickey thompson atz tyres. I think they are great, 4 or 5 rib depending how your usage suits.

there are good and bad comments on this site to every set up and everyone has their own preference. I chose EFS Elite front shocks, heavy duty torsion bars... Heavy duty rear leafs enforcer rear shocks and I'm happy with it's performance so far and it's affordability.

I have got toughdog alround with rear adjustable shocks. Best thing i have ever done to th nav. My mate who is a suspension speacialist swears by tough dog

I have TJM with the new XGS Gold shockies, I have the heavy duty leaf packs , but sounds like you would be better off with the medium duty.I also have heavy duty torision bars fitted, greaseable shackles and pins.( some kits don't come with these0

I'm happy with it, handled the simpson desert well.

3 simple words... IRONMAN ARE SHIT!!! what ever you do dont buy ironman gear, i bought a full 2" kit and have had nothing but troubles, shocks have gone soft/rock solid, springs have sagged back to normal height

I have OME nitro shocks all around - seem okay at this point (15 months old).

Initially I had OME 'medium' rear springs which only lifted about 35mm and after 12 months I replaced them with EFS heavy duty. The OME sagged. The ride harshness is no different but the height is where I want it.

I drive it daily and usually without load and it doesn't seem hard to me - I guess it depends on what you compare it to. When I load it up the difference over the OME is remarkably noticeable. ARB insisted I needed 'medium' because I wasn't constantly carrying load.

I also opted for EFS heavy duty torsion bars which to date have been great - much better than wound up stock ones. My info is that most of the aftermarket torsion bars are made at the same place and to similar specs.

Greaseable shackles and pins are the next suspension mod for me.

yeah i believe in you pay for what you get and ironman is cheap value but i'd hate to fit it and curse everytime i have to drive in it

well i've ruled out ironman so i'll have a look at the ome and tough dog and see what happens from there, i've been in bed for a week due to coming off jet ski at 80kph and smashing few ribs so since then all i've been doing is searching this very usefull forum for info so just want say thanks for the help fellas

what does the torsion bars actually do (my first navara still bit wet behind the ears) i see people winding them up or changing them to stronger?? should i also do mine?? some kits come with some dont i've seen there not that cheap.... greasable shackles and pins also?? what benefits do they give??

well by upgrading your torsions bars to heavy duty just means they are stronger so if you have a winch or steel bullbar it is recomended you upgrade them to HD torsion bars because the orginal ones can sag with the weight. i got a 2" toughdog all round with adjustable shocks and i got the HD torsion bars but because i only have an alloy bar i just chose to wind up the orginal torsion bars beacuse if i put HD torsion bars in i was told that i would lose flex because there are Heavy Duty. So i have just kept the toughdog ones for when i upgrade my bar for a winch bar

Your torsion bars are the 'springs' for the IFS front end - and what Navar09 has said is spot on.

most likely tough dog it seems to be well known and good value i think but i will still have a look at ome and see if they will give me a good deal also

I run Lovell leaf springs, Tough Dog torsion bars and Bilstien shocks.

Shocks by far have been the best investment.
