Noises after driving. 2.5lt

Hi guys ,
D22 2.5lt '14. Does anybody else get a lot of cracking and popping noises from the motor and exhaust as the vehicle cools down after a drive? I'm sure the ones from engine area are from heat shield and ones from exhaust sound like they are coming from muffler.

Also noticed sitting at traffic lights.

never heard any exhaust crackle sounds since i bought my 13 model str. normally you will hear sound sounds as the exhaust cools down and especially when new . how many K,s has it done ?

It's done 5000 and that's the noises I was talking about probably should have written it better..

If new contraction noises after turn off is fairly standard. I wouldn't worry about it.

same thing happens to mine, guess it's normal lol

Owned plenty of diesels .. just non that make so many noises as it cools down

Yeah mine is 10 years old and it does it. Any metal cooling from high temps with crack when it cools due to the metal shrinking as it cools. When it heats up it expands

Mine did it for a good 12 months before it stopped.
Used to drive me nuts.

This is common in both petrol and diesel cars depending on how long or how hard they have driven, weather temp also players a part as the metal contracts when cooling down
