i own a nissan navara d22 and it started to over rev in idle mode i have had a diagnostic saying it was the exelerator position switch so i have put a new excelarator pedal on to which it seem to solve the problem for a few hours then its just gone back to high revs again dose any 1 have any ideas what else could be causing this problem its a 2003 model many thanks kerry ps im in england

Hi Kerry, one of the admin guys here Dave had a very similar sounding prob as you describe, for the life of me i cant remember what it was so i will get back to you once i find it, or you could send Dave a PM and he will get back to you.

Turns out the problem daves D22 had was all to do with a chip that was put in.

Apparently if you let it idle for 10min it resets the idle, something you could try i guess.
Maybe do a ecu reset as well, and also give the MAFS a clean with contact cleaner or MAFS cleaner.

I had a similar problem, it was after a gearbox oil change, much the car off for 10min, start the car let idle for 5 min, shut the car off for a min them restart, all was fine after that,
I may be way off the mark for your issue but this will work if you have changed the gear box oil

How high are your revs getting to? If its only 1200 to 1500rpm then you could have your heat switch on?
