hello my name is Jason i have just recently bought a 2008 D40 dual cab and just this weekend gone the heater has stopped heating in the cab, took it back to the dealer i bought it off and they tell me the control fuctions on the heater are broken. Iv'e been told the that the unit will need to ne replaced and total cost will be $1000 (dealer special). having had a BA falcon in the past with a heat mixer problem I know whats involved but i do feel the price is abit steep? has anyone had this issue bfefore and has there been a cheaper outcome?

My heater stopped working when the coolant got a bit low, but everything else worked, fan, Ac, controls etc. Might be worth checking before you pull the dash apart.

If the fan has stopped working it may be the fan speed resistor. It can corpse preventing the fan from working at different speeds, typically the slower settings first. Ta a 5 min fix, you can check it fairly quickly by inspecting visually. It’s not hard to pull out in behind the glovebox somewhere.

thank you for the info, got the Nav back from the dealer and they did a "reset on the body control module" and now the heater works. But they gave me a list of things that need replacing like the coolant overflow bottle, thermostat housing and the coolant bypass hose. these are all leaking. will look int replacing all over the weekend.
