hi all. recently joined to see if i can get help with my d21 project. it's slowly getting there but some bit's might be tricky like swapping my z24 with a vg30e. anyway i bought a smashed 2wd with the motor in it and it's left me with spares i need to get rid of. i got a full tub with canopy, some doors and trims, a sunroof, suspension and small odds and ends. i don't know if the transmission is available because i don't quite know how my swaps going to happen. the gearbox is the same as in a gq patrol so i'm wondering if i can stick a patrol transfer case on the end and get cv's to match? so many options. anyway if your afters some d21 bit's be sure to get in touch. i'm in melbourne. hey also i have a forward lean on the truck and was wondering if there are cost effective ways of body lifting the front as i can't really afford new torsion bars quite yet.

Welcome to the forums, there's getting to be a bit of D21 info here.

I think someone was asking about a D21 canopy as recently as last night so you might evn be in luck off loading that.

Welcome mate, interesting project.

Torsion bars are easy. You can increase the preload on the standard torsion bars back to factory specs to level out the car, cost $0. Just search the forums for "torsion bars" and you'll find far more discussion than necessary on the subject.

You CAN fit the transfer case from a Patrol to your FS5R30A, you need to buy the whole box and transfer from a RD28T or RB30S and mix and match to get the transfer case on, however there's not much point as the Patrol's front driveshaft is on the wrong side for a Navara. You're better off chasing the transfer case from a QD32 or VG33E D22 Navara which fits your trans and has the passenger side front driveshaft drop you need. Now that I think about it the 4x2 FS5R30A rear section probably can't mate up to the transfer case, you might need the whole transmission from a VG33E. Scottybobcat has the whole package for sale, if you bought his you'd save yourself a lot of pain and time.

Another problem you might have is the 4x2's oil sump, which I'd imagine would hit your front diff. So check that before taking the 4x4 off the road. The only solution to that is either to buy a 4x4 sump from the USA, or try to buy a VG33E 4x4 sump in Australia.

I'm interested in the sunroof, could I get some pictures and a price? Is the sunroof from the wrecked Navara, how bad is the body damage? (I'd rather buy the whole body than fit the sunroof to mine)

the body is rooted includin everything around the sunroof. the glass looks fine though. i'd take some pictures but i don't have a digital camera. 0405031767 you can have it for $50 if you want it.

on another note, i put the rear springs from a two wheel drive navara in my fourbie and it's way higher. two questions, 1 is this normal ( considering my diff breather looks ready to pop)and two, now that my car has a pretty ridiculous lean forward will i have trouble with the roadworthy. i wish i had a dig camera just to give you guys a laugh, it's quality!

First, digital cameras that use SD cards can be had with reasonable resolution (5MPx+) for under $100, and mobile phones often have cameras in them anyway - most of the pics I've taken on this site here and on my photobucket site were taken with the 5MPx camera in my HTC Touch HD phone. USB cable your phone to your computer and grab the pics from inside the DCIM folder.

As for the suspension, you might have an issue with the RWC if the thing's been lifted too high without an engineer's certificate. General rule of thumb is 50mm of lift in just about every state of Australia is as far as you'll go. If you've gone past that (especially to the point where it looks so odd, you want a pic so we can all laugh along with you) then your RWC might be hard to get.

Your diff breather might be something you could just extend and stick up somewhere high. Just make sure you keep it safely up out of the way of stray twigs and stuff that might get caught under the vehicle and that you clamp any joins properly.
