Hi Guys, My name is Bec and i am looking at a 06 D22 Navara.

I just need to no what to look for? I will be doing some heavy off road and just want to know if it is going to be able to handle it. I have only ever had Patrols and Jeep Wrangerls, so a navara with a totally different front end is new to me.

Can you guys help me with suspension so that i can get the max amount of flex out of the vehicle, im just not sure how to set one up,

I hope you can all help and i look forward to meeting you

Hey Bec, the nav is pretty good off road, and the IFS has a few advantages over a solid front axle, but it all depends how serious you want to go with it. You can go the same way as joshy and get a SAS kit, or go for 3" suspension lift, 2" body lift, fit some 33's and diff lockers.

If your around Brisbane come on a day trip down to ripley or spend a weekend up at landcruiser park.

Work out what the truck can and cannot do, and build from there.

Hi Bec

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not up on the D22's but there are plenty of people on here that are. Where are you from (ie state and capital city) ... we can probably hook you up with someone who has a modded D22 that you can drool over before you start doing your own mod's.

Welcome to the forum.

Jeeps have a shorter wheelbase than either flavour of Navara and they'll do the more extreme off-roading a lot easier.

The Navara is a more stable creature, but does have some limitations on what you can do with it.

As suggested above, go see some of the guys and go out with them on a 4WD trip and look for yourself before you jump at one. You might consider them adequate for what you want to do, and you might think they're hopeless. You won't know unless you go.

Heavy offroad, Wrangler and Patrol win hands down.

Medium offroad the D22 will do what you want.

SAS it and it will handle the heavy stuff.
