Hi guys,

My name Tresna, and I just bought a brand new Navara 2012 D40 sport version, but founded there is no tailgate lock, there is anyone dan help how to find it and where to buy that tailgate lock and fitting set?....

Thanks,
Tresna

have you got a canopy or hard top? no point locking it if you can get in the top, canopies and hardtops lock the tailgate

Nissan sell a keylock for the D40, the (aussie) part number is in the D40 part numbers thread. It's biggest problem is Nissan want you to take out a second and third mortgage to pay for the damn thing.

Alternatively you could try central locking the thing. Doing it on the cheap you can get away with it for about $40 and although it has a few short comings it has the desired effect.

Although a canopy or hard top is not necessary it's a little more practical with one. Checkout this thread.

Tailgate lock secures tailgate a lot better that a canopy window can (depending on the canopy) takes 5 mins to fit & easily keyed alike to ignition. Bit exxy but never fails either.
I posted the part no. years ago. Nissan Aust. had denied it's existence previously. (Like the carbon tax and the govt.)

Navara Tailgate lock

Hi Kraftypg,

Thanks so much for your information, I will try to read out the thread....and also will find the way how to purchase it that tailgate lock fitting including the handle cover...I had bought Bakflip Fibermax to cover it..easy to install and not necessary to drill..

Thanks

Don't you have the handle or anything on the tailgate? Nissan Australia provide us with the handle (the entire black surround) and all the right mechanisms but just put a cap over the hole where the key tumbler mounts. My method (the method I stole from someone else) uses the mechanism to disable the outside release handle which essentially locks the tailgate and the worst someone can do is break the handle.

It's not entirely effective against thieves because they could break into the canopy with a brick but it saves the annoyance of some muppet opening the handle and having the tailgate unlatched leaning against the canopy window and me not realising it until I open the window at which time the tailgate falls and hits me.

Hi Krafty,

Yes I have, the handle actually was installed, just like what you said with black surround.

Oh then it's really a simple job, the biggest pain is running the cables and even that's not outrageously hard. If you are following my thread be sure to check the wire colour on your own ute because they might have varied the colour in later models.

It's easy to test, all you need to do is expose the plug in the B pillar and stick your multimeter into each terminal while locking and unlocking the door. The wires you need will show a 12V pulse each time the button is pushed. Join to those wires and your tail gate actuator will work, and if you can hear it working but it appears to be doing nothing chances are you have the wires reversed and the actuator is trying to operate the wrong way.

Thanks so much Krafty appreciated for your help and info..I am stil a waiting my D40 as still not deliver yet due to Build up custom clearance...hahahahah....but no problem..still have enough time to read and learns how to modified that rear door....

Cheer's
